Introducing: Heading Home Interactive Webinars!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have reimagined ways to volunteer with Heading Home. Interactive Webinars offer a unique way to learn more about Heading Home, homelessness in and around Boston, and how you can be a part of the solution. Below are the current Interactive Webinar offerings for you, your company, or your school.

Overview:

Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive webinar to learn about homelessness in Greater Boston, specifically focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on children living in shelters. Following the Webinar, volunteers can record Read-Alouds of some favorite children’s books to keep bright minds engaged and entertained. Storybook recordings in Spanish, Haitian-Creole, and French Patois are encouraged and welcomed. Directions will be provided (including digital tools, uploading/file preference, information on each book, etc.).

Time Commitment: 1.5 hours

Location: Zoom (virtual)

Volunteers: 30 maximum

1:00 PM: Program kickoff, welcome from Heading Home staff
1:05 PM: Introductions
1:15 PM: Webinar begins
2:00 PM: Open to questions, discussion encouraged!
2:15 PM: Volunteers begin recording Read-Alouds
2:30 PM: Heading Home thank you and farewell

Overview:

Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive webinar to learn about homelessness in Greater Boston, specifically focused on the impacts of COVID-19 on men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and front-line staff. Following the Webinar, volunteers can write ‘Thank You’ cards or notes of encouragement to share gratitude and support for front-line staff working around the clock, risking their health and safety to help our most vulnerable neighbors.

Time Commitment: 1.5 hours

Location: Zoom (virtual)

Volunteers: 30 maximum

Following the Webinar, volunteers can write letters, cards, or encouraging notes to share with clients sheltering-in-place and frontline staff.

Time Commitment: 1.5 hours

Overview:

Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive webinar to learn about homelessness in Greater Boston, specifically focused on the impacts of COVID-19 and the significance of health, hygiene, and access to essential supplies. Following the Webinar, volunteers can assemble toiletry kits for newly welcomed clients who may need extra health and confidence. Assembly will include items listed below:

Volunteer Supplies:

Vessels (Ziplock bags, toiletry bags, etc.)
Shampoo, conditioner, face wash, and body wash/soap
Comb or brush
Lotion
Deodorant
Hand Sanitizer
Face mask (if possible!)

Time Commitment: 1.5 hours

Location: Zoom (virtual)

Volunteers: 30 maximum
