During this unprecedented time of uncertainty, Heading Home is working around the clock to keep our 500 households and their 525 children safe, fed and healthy. With access to food and basic needs compromised, concern is rightfully growing for those experiencing homelessness. In response, we have launched a Food and Essentials – Operation Drop to help connect the nearly 1,500 people we currently supporting to the items they need. Your donation will directly help those in our community who are most vulnerable to sickness, isolation, hunger, and trauma.
We are collecting the following items to distribute to those most immediately in need in our programs:
Non-Perishable Food Items:
- Help us stock the pantries of up to 1,400 people by donating soups, rice, beans, pasta, mac’n’cheese, baby formula and baby food, and more from this list of high priority items.
- Parents are struggling to home school their children in shelter, and a number of Heading Home clients have children with special needs. Help us provide them with essential school supplies like paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, creative supplies and more.
- Heading Home houses nearly 1,500 people and operates with about 50 front-line essential care staff. By providing reusable face masks, you can help us to ensure their health and safety while living or working in shelter. CDC guidelines for mask-making and use can be found here.
Other Essential Supplies:
- Items in high-demand also include diapers and wipes (all sizes), cleaning supplies, paper towels, toilet paper, immune boosters like Emergen-C, hygiene and feminine products.
All donations can be shipped or delivered to Heading Home’s business address:
529 Main Street, Suite 100
Charlestown MA 02129
Deliveries are accepted Fridays only from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. If you are interested in making a donation, please email Carli Baldwin at firstname.lastname@example.org or purchase directly through our Amazon wish list.
