Norfolk, MA: Bay State Overflow Shelter

Massachusetts Family Shelter

The Healey Administration announced in May that the former dormitory-style Bay State Correctional Center has been designated as a temporary family overflow shelter site. This decision was made as the number of families in need of temporary housing continues to overburden the state shelter system based, in part, on the continued migration of those from other countries seeking shelter in Massachusetts.  Heading Home has been selected as the site’s service provider by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services and will manage the shelter for approximately 150 families with children and will staff the location 24/7. Heading Home is grateful to be able to help families in need at time when the cost of housing and basic necessities continues to outpace the resources of so many households, and we couldn’t do it without partners like you!
