Heading Home’s Housewarming Event Raises More Than $1.3 Million to End Homelessness

Greater Boston’s business leaders and restaurant community unite to benefit Heading Home and end homelessness for good.

CHARLESTOWN, MA – May 9, 2017  – The Boston-based nonprofit, Heading Home, is delighted to announce its recent Housewarming event raised a record-breaking $1,360,000. Now one of Boston’s largest fundraising events, the Housewarming gathered nearly 1,000 community leaders at The Castle in Boston’s Back Bay the evening of Tuesday, May 9 to network, sample fine food and help end homelessness locally. The night concluded with a spirited live auction featuring “priceless” donated items including a once-in-a-lifetime road trip with the New England Patriots. The event’s proceeds directly benefit Heading Home’s programs throughout Greater Boston.

Event Chairs John Edwards of Breed’s Hill Capital, LLC, Frank Petz of JLL, and Jeff Wechsler of Tishman Speyer were instrumental in making this year’s event such a success and surpassing last year’s fundraising.  As Culinary Chair, Chef Jeff Pond of Area Four recruited 21 of the area’s premier restaurants to provide savory and dessert samplings to guests.

Inspired by the work of Heading Home, Petz says, “Heading Home is supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Our event committee rallied Boston’s business leaders to come together and support Heading Home’s essential work. Together, we will better thousands of lives and help our homeless neighbors on a path to self-sufficiency.”

Heading Home’s Chief Executive Officer Tom Lorello added, “The Housewarming has fueled expansion and innovation; Heading Home is now one of the area’s largest providers of housing for homeless families, and our work goes beyond ending homelessness: We are creating a long-term pathway out of poverty.”
