2012 Housewarming Event

We are proud to announce that our annual Housewarming Event raised over $700,000 to support our programs to end family homelessness. The Housewarming Event, held May 3rd at The State Room in Boston, is our largest fundraiser of the year. The event brought together Greater Boston’s finest chefs and restaurants with local business leaders and philanthropists for an evening of networking and fundraising to benefit Heading Home. Eighteen restaurants participated in the sold-out event, offering tastings of their signature dishes for over 700 attendees to enjoy.

This year, Brian Kavoogian of Charles River Realty Investors and Jack Sebastian of Goldman, Sachs & Co. chaired the Housewarming Event, and Andrew Maher of Equity Office served as master of ceremonies. With their passion for the cause of ending homelessness in Greater Boston, Heading Home surpassed its goal and raised more than $700,000.

NAIOP Massachusetts’ 24th Annual Charitable Golf Tournament

Approaching a quarter-century of partnership in ending homelessness locally, NAIOP Massachusetts’ 24^thAnnual Golf Tournament to benefit Heading Home is set to take place on Wednesday, June 6 at Stow Acres Country Club. Last year’s tournament raised $122,000 to directly support our programs and services. Join more than 400 golfers and help end homelessness for good.

2011 Holiday Gift Drive

Help make the season brighter for homeless families and individuals!

Starting November 25, visit our Holiday Headquarters at the Prudential Center to select a family and drop off gifts.

The holiday season is a particularly challenging time for homeless families – mostly single mothers and children living in shelters – who don’t have the resources to fulfill their holiday wishes.

Please visit Heading Home’s holiday headquarters beginning November 25 in the Prudential Center to obtain a wish list. This is a great opportunity to make the season brighter for homeless families by helping them fulfill their wishes!

With family homelessness at an all-time high, Heading Home is hoping to help more than 2,000 families this year.

Holiday Gift Drive Details

Only unwrapped gifts, please; this allows parents to wrap and present them according to their own family traditions
To ensure gifts are delivered in time, we ask that all donations be dropped off by December 15^th
Only gifts provided on the wish lists can be delivered to clients, however, gift cards are always welcomed from Stop & Shop, Target, CVS, and other stores

Heading Home recently broke into the Boston Business Journal’s Book of Lists’ “Area’s Top 50 Largest Nonprofits.”

Priscilla

Leaving a bad experience in another city behind, Priscilla and her three young children came to Boston for their fresh start. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, Priscilla’s family found themselves homeless. Shortly after being referred to Heading Home, Priscilla and her family were swiftly placed into one of our transitional housing units.

Our case manager addressed the family’s immediate needs, including child care, the children’s access to school and transportation. Through this process, we recognized Priscilla’s potential and encouraged her to enroll in the Heading Home Partnership. As a result of several positive steps in her work, skills and savings, Priscilla recently secured permanent housing for her family in Roxbury.

She is currently pursuing a nursing degree from Lincoln Technical Institute and is on-track to graduate next semester. In the meantime, she has secured full-time employment as an advocate for homeless families with disabled children. As someone who never thought she would be without a home, she has embraced – and accelerated with – the support Heading Home has provided to get back on track.
