Heading Home, Inc.’s mission is to end homelessness in the Greater Boston by providing supported pathway to self-sufficiency that begins with a home, together with critical services such as life skills, including financial literacy, and job training. We provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing, and support services, to low-income homeless and formerly homeless families and individuals. As our name reflects, a home provides the optimal foundation to get back on track; our programs focus heavily on getting people permanently housed as quickly as possible.


Heading Home is looking for an energetic, experience and detail oriented Accounts Payable Associate to join this growing and evolving Finance Department. He/She will key player in the managing of the day to day function of accounts payable operation. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance to strengthen and build the finance department and be a key participant in upgrading the systems in light of significant organizational growth. This position has room for growth and opportunity within the finance department.

• Oversee and manage the accounts payable function
• Create systems to ensure timely and accurate payment of both electronic and manual invoices
• Review and maintain expense side of general ledger ensuring the accurate coding of expense accounts and program codes
• Maintain vender contracts and the proper paperwork needed to process both independent and corporate invoices
• Maintain AP files
• Liaison with venders to promote strong and trusted relationships and trouble shoot issues that may arise
• Produce weekly internal reports on payable status
• Make recommendations to strengthen systems to ensure proper payment procedures are followed
• Manage the client assistance requests and reconcile with program directors to ensure appropriate use of funds
• Management of real estate listing as it pertains to monthly rent payments
• Various financial analysis, projects and system design

• 3+ year of relevant experience in an accounting role
• Experience with accounts payable management a plus
• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong technology skills specifically with accounting software and Excel
• Very detail oriented
• Ability to create and manage systems
• Strong integrity and work ethic with an ability to self-manage
• Energetic and excited to participant in build and exceptional department
• Ability and desire to see projects through to completion
• Pride in performance
