Heading Home Advisory Council (HHAC) Educational Event with Congressman Barney Frank

Tom Lorello, Congressman Barney Frank, and Phill GrossOn October 10, 2008 the Heading Home Advisory Council (HHAC) hosted an educational event “Views on Housing” at Le Meridien Hotel in Cambridge. The guests in attendance enjoyed a lively discussion about the role of the Federal and State government in providing affordable housing, and how Heading Home as an organization plays a role in this effort. The featured speakers included Congressman Barney Frank, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and Heading Home’s Executive Director Tom Lorello.

Phill Gross, the chair of the HHAC along with approximately 60 friends and supporters of Heading Home in attendance were anxious to hear from the Congressman regarding his veiws on housing.Congressman Barney Frank and Phill Gross

During his remarks the Congressman addressed how he thought the next administration might work on these issues, he also recognized the role of non-profits in providing affordable housing as well as the effects of the current financial crisis.

Attendees of HHAC eventThe audience included many prominent members of the Greater Boston philanthropic community who want to be a part of the solution, and who have a significant perspective to bring. “We hope the event stimulated creative thinking and perhaps some fruitful partnerships that will help end homelessness for good.” said Gross.
